Law enforcement in Sacramento are working a shooting that erupted Saturday evening at Howe Community Park while deputies were breaking up an unsanctioned gathering of an estimated several hundred individuals.
Prior to the Shooting
Deputies first arrived at the park at approximately 6:30 PM on April 18 after learning of people potentially armed with concealed firearms. Shortly after, a second call came in describing a possible physical fight happening inside the park.
Aerial units searched from above but came back with no confirmation of a fight. Nevertheless, deputies found that hundreds of people Arden Arcade Sacramento crime 2026 had assembled at the park without official sanction.
The Shooting Itself
Deputies worked to disperse the crowd by encircling the gathering and issuing commands over loudspeakers instructing the assembled crowd to leave immediately. About 15 minutes were spent for the crowd to leave.

Four People Shot
Ultimately, four victims were discovered with shooting injuries. The shooting victims — made up of one woman and three men all believed to be in their 20s at the time of the incident — were rushed to hospitals in the Sacramento area. Medical teams stated that two victims were in serious condition, one victim's injuries were classified as moderate, and one victim's wounds were minor. According to authorities, no fatalities were reported and all four were stable.

Evidence at the Scene
Most of the gunfire seemed to have unfolded along the Cottage Way side of the park alongside the Home Depot located at the 2200 block of Howe Ave. Detectives located additional shell casings along Cottage Way. Projectile impacts were identified in the wrought iron perimeter fencing bordering the Home Depot store. This evidence pointed to that a shooter had been aiming south from along Cottage Way aimed at the Home Depot store. The Home Depot was secured under a brief lockdown as a precaution. Crime scene technicians and detectives continued working throughout the night.
Detainees in Solano County
Reports confirmed over scanner radio traffic confirmed that a Kia connected to the shooting had been stopped in Solano County California. Four occupants were stopped and detained. Sacramento law enforcement were en route to collect those detained to collect the individuals for formal questioning. Footage analyzed by investigators confirmed that two shooters had been involved.
